Police in Mangochi have arrested a 39-year-old man suspicion of stealing water installation materials worth 1.2 million kwacha belonging to Water Users Association in Makawa.

Mangochi Police Publicist Sub Inspector Amina Tepani Daudi has confirmed this and identified the suspect as Justin Mtewa.

Daudi says Scheme Manager, Hendrex Banda including members of Living Waters Church in the area, earlier complained of unknown criminals who broke their households and stole water meters and taps.

“Police Officers at Makokola Police Unit launched an investigation which led to the arrest of Mtewa. We have recovered meters, taps, BIP taps and cooper wire.

The suspect hails from Uloro village in the area of Traditional Authority Nkhumba in Phalombe.
