Dedza police have arrested nine illegal immigrants from Ethiopia and also detained two vehicles they were traveling in following a police chase.
Dedza police spokesperson, Edward Kabango has confirmed of the development saying the Ethiopians were arrested yesterday at Mtakataka.
“Ethiopians who were traveling in two vehicles with fake registration numbers were arrested at Mtakataka police check point as they were trying to avoid a police check on their way heading Balaka from Salima,” said Kabango.
Police chased the vehicles and managed to arrest the nine Ethiopians.
Meanwhile, police say efforts are in order to arrest other suspects who fled during the chase.
