An armed robber has this afternoon been stoned to death in Likuni, Lilongwe after his futile theft attempt at First Capital Bank.
An eye witness explains that the robber entered the bank as a customer and went to a teller asking for money.
“He was wearing a helmet and a mask. After being told he could not get the money without withdrawal slips, he then took his two guns and shot one of the glasses on one teller,” says the eye witness.
Afraid, the teller released the money but the robber failed to start his motorbike; prompting people to start stoning him.
“He kept shooting but people overpowered him. One person has of course been shot,” adds the source.
Police are yet to comment but the bank has since been closed.
