Organizers for the Anti-President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera’s administration demonstrations in Blantyre have given Chakwera 5 days to resign or call for a referendum.
Speaking after presenting a petition to Chakwera through Blantyre District Commissioners Office, One of the organizers for the demonstrations, Steve Chimwaza, said if Chakwera will not take an action they will mobilise people to seal state house.
Among others, Chimwaza has cited failed campaign promises, rapid corruption, selective justice and nepotism as reasons for Chakwera to resign.
The concerned citizens say they will match to state house should President Lazarus Chakwera fail to address their grievances in five days.
Receiving the petition, Director of Administration at Blantyre District Council Hastings Dowe said he will submit the petition to relevant authorities.
Dowe, then, commended protesters for holding peaceful demonstrations.
Chakwera’s administration has witnessed a series of demonstrations since it was ushered into power.
