Reports reaching this publication, indicate that police in Limbe have arrested a 40-year-old Chinese national for hacking a Malawian business woman in the head with a panga knife.
The suspect has been identified as Jiqo Chi Ping while the victim is Janet Phiri who operates her second hand clothes (Kaunjika) business at Thondwe in Zomba.
According to reports, Phiri visited a Chinese owned shop called Yibo in Limbe to buy a bail of Kaunjika clothes for children which was worth K280,000.00.
However, upon unpacking the bail she discovered that the clothes were torn and old, a situation that made her feel betrayed.
Following that, the business woman went back to the shop in Limbe to report about this unfortunate discovery but things reportedly got heated when Ping withdrew a panga knife and hacked her in the woman.
Police were called to the scene and they managed to apprehend the Chinese national.
Phiri reportedly lost a lot of blood after the hacking and was taken to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital.
Meanwhile, reports indicate that police have since opened a case against the Chinese national.
It has now become common in the country that Chinese nationals are taking laws into their own hands and acting violent against Malawians which in most cases, they successfully get away with it.
Just recently, a Chinese national, Susu was exposed for exploiting Malawian children for money. He managed to flee from Malawi and luckily was apprehended in Zambia.
Police say, they are working with Zambia government for his extradition to answer charges in Malawi.
