Lilongwe Magistrate Court has today resumed an extradition case involving Prophet Shepherd Bushiri and his wife Mary.
It is expected that the court will give its ruling on an application by the state to have witnesses record their evidence in South Africa citing logistical challenges.
In the previous application, Dr Steve Kayuni, the Director of Public Prosecutions noted that it was costly to have the witnesses being brought in the country from South Africa.
However, defense lawyer Wapona Kita challenged the application arguing the issue was already dealt with by the same Court in its 8 June ruling where the Court decided that the reasons were not convincing enough, hence the court having already decided on the matter cannot revisit its own decision.
The Bushiri’s bolted from South Africa while on bail over charges of fraud and money laundering.
