ELEPHANT KILLED AFTER ESCAPING FROM KASUNGU NATIONAL PARK AND KILLING A VILLAGER

Game rangers have managed to gun down an elephant which escaped the Kasungu National Park and strayed to a nearby village where it trampled and killed a villager.

According to reports, the Elephant killed the villager identified as Collings Chisi who was trampled by the Elephant at Jara village in the area of Chief Chisemphere in Kasungu North this morning.

According to Kasungu Police Spokesperson Joseph Kachikho, the elephant has also injured a Kabaza operator.

The incident is coming at a time the department is translocating 250 elephants from Liwonde to Kasungu National Park as a way of restocking the park to attract tourists.
