At least 33 people have died in Kenya after a bus they were traveling in fell off bridge and plunged into a river.
Local media reported the incident on Monday morning saying it happened in Tharaka Nithi County.
24 people were pronounced dead at the spot while ten others had survived, the county’s commissioner Nobert Komora said.
The death toll rose to 33 as some of the survivors succumbed to injuries while in hospital.
Komora said the bus might have developed a brake failure making it hard for the driver to negotiate a corner.
During that time, the bus was transporting passengers from Meru town to the coastal city of Mombasa.
