A 32-year-old man has been arrested by police in Kawale for allegedly stealing cash amounting to K300, 00.00 by tricking another person.
Spokesperson for Kawale Police, Mabvuto Phiri has identified the suspect as Chifuniro Andrew Banda who resides in Area 23 in Lilongwe.
According to Phiri, the suspect approached his victim Joseph Chima at Jenda in Mzimba disguising himself as a pastor of a certain church in Area 23.
“The suspect narrated that his church is offering for sale motorbikes on a cheaper price as one way of improving lives of the less privileged. On June 5, 2022, the two agreed to meet in area 23 where the victim paid the cash waiting to get the motorcycle. The complainant waited for Banda to bring him motorcycle but as time elapsed, he tried to call him on several times until he realized that his money has been stolen, “explained Phiri.
Efforts to locate the suspect followed up until police caught up with him.
Banda hails from Buona village, T/A Wimbe in Kasungu District.
