Police in South Africa say they will place criminal charges against the owner of the Tarven where 22 dead bodies of young boys were found on Sunday morning.
Apart from placing criminal charges against the Tavern owner, The Eastern Cape Liquor Board (ECLB) said they will also have his license revoked for selling liquor to persons under the age 18.
One of the victims in the tragic was reported to be 18 years of age.
South Africa’s Police Chief, Bheki Cele visited the Enyobeni Tavern where he engaged with residents and also the families of the victims.
He assured the bereaved families that police will definitely get to the mysterious deaths of the victims.
“We have an experienced team that is complementing the provincial team to ensure that we get to the bottom of what has led to the death of these young people. We are also engaging other stakeholders to investigate issues of compliance to liquor legislation,” Bheki Cele reportedly said.
