Sylvester Namiwa, Executive Director for Centre for Democracy and Economic Initiative (CDEDI,) is said to have been found this afternoon in Lilongwe following his alleged abduction on Wednesday.
According to reports, Namiwa has been found dumped in Nathenje near Double Vision School.
CDEDI spokesperson Edwin Mwauluka has since confirmed of development and said he will give more details into the matter later on.
Namiwa was allegedly abducted at Area 3 in Lilongwe on Wednesday afternoon, hours before he was expected to lead the Thursday’s anti-government demonstrations in the capital city.
As he was driving home, after conducting a press conference to express his organization’s preparedness for anti-government demonstrations slated today – another vehicle stopped in front of them and bouncers pulled Namiwa out of our vehicle.
““Namiwa was beaten and then bundled into the other car and the abductors drove away,” said CDEDI Communications Officer, Edwin Mauluka adding that the vehicle the abductors used has no number plate.
