SUSPECTED SATTAR CORRUPTION CASE BENEFICIARY KAINJA RELEASED ON BAIL

Former police chief George Kainja and another senior officer, Mwabi Kalua who were arrested today suspected to have received bribes from Zunneth Sattar have been released on bail just hours after their arrest.

Among the conditions, Magistrate Madalitso Chimwaza released the suspects following an order that they should pay 800 thousand cash bond and K 1 million non- cash bond.

The ex-police chief George Kainja was instructed to be reporting to ACB every two weeks.

Kainja is suspected to have been one of the beneficiaries in Sattar corrupt practices, that led President Dr Chakwera to fire him from his position this week.

Other suspected individuals include the country’s vice president Dr Saulos Chilima who has since denied his involvement in the Sattar corrupt scandal.
