Pangolin is still putting people in trouble. Two men have recently been arrested by police in Blantyre for possessing the highly protected mammal.

The two, Wyson John, and Charles Mayeso were arrested at Kandodo corner shop following a tip that the two were carrying the mammal in a sack bag looking for potential buyers.

“We have arrested Wyson John, 34, and Charles Mayeso, 32, following a tip that the two had concealed in a sack bag and offering the protected live specimen for sale,” Blantyre Police Deputy Publicist Seargent Aubrey Singanyama confirmed.

The two are expected to appear in court to answer charges of being found in possession of listed species and dealing in government trophy, contrary to section 86 (1) as read with section 110 (b) of the National Parks and Wildlife Act,” he said.
