Following the kidnapping of a 14-year-old son of a Limbe prominent Indian-businessman OG Plastics, Malawi police have finally made arrests of two culprits.
The boy was kidnapped earlier this month in Limbe and the attackers demanded K6 million as ransom of which the father only paid K1 Million leading to his release.
Since the release, police had been following up on the matter which has now led to the arrest of two men identified as Charles Laston, aged 22, from Majawa village, Traditional Authority Mabuka in Mulanje, and Isaac Mpindo 24, from Mphwere village in the area of Traditional Authority Nkanda in Chiradzulu.
According to Limbe Police Spokesperson, Inspector Patrick Mussa, the two were accompanied by other three accomplices armed with panga knives during the attack.
“The two together with other three accomplices whilst armed with panga knives attacked and kidnapped the victim who was going to the Indian temple near Hardware in Limbe a few days ago. Police add that the suspects used the the victim’ phone to call and demand a K6 million ransom from the boy’ father who managed to send K1 million to the attackers,” said the spokesperson.
Meanwhile, the investigation is ongoing to arrest the other culprits.
