Malawi Government has called upon South African government to arrest and extradite a Malawian based in that country, Ben Longwe for inciting violent activities against judges in Malawi.
In June, Longwe made an audio calling upon all Malawians to attack judicial officers by setting their houses ablaze as well as court buildings accusing them of not being fair in their judgements.
The Director of Public Prosecution, Steven Kayuni has confirmed that the extradition request has indeed been sent to South Africa.
“The government’s request follows a warrant of arrest that was obtained by law enforcement agencies for cyber-related offences and threats against judicial officers and legal practitioners in Malawi,” said Kayuni.
If extradited to Malawi, Longwe will answer cyber-related offences.
Malawi is currently putting in much effort in dealing with cyber-related offences which have become rampant on social media apps.
