Police on Friday arrested a 33-year-old man over possession of ivory.
The suspect, Uzani James was arrested while on a mission to look for possible buyers, according to Mchinji Police Spokesperson Maxwell Jailosi.
“The suspect concealed the ivory in a sack and was on Friday looking for possible market in the border district, ” said Jailosi.
The ivory was weighing over 20 kilograms.
Meanwhile, the suspect will soon appear in court to answer the charge of being found with specimen of protected species contrary to section 86 and 91 of the National Parks and Wildlife Act.
He hails from Kazuwa village, T/A Nyaza in Kasungu.
