A Nigerian doctor in United Kingdom (UK) has been charged in court over a plot to exploit another man into the country to harvest his kidney.
The doctor has been identified as 59-year-old Obinna Obeta who is accused under the modern slavery act arranging a man’s travel with a view to have him exploited.
Obeta is said to have conspired with a Nigerian politician and his wife Beatrice to exploit a 21-year-old man from Nigeria to Uk.
It is alleged the plan was to harvest the kidney off the 21-year-old man and plant it on the politician’s daughter whose health was lacking the human organ.
The politician, Mr Ekkweremadu and his wife were arrested on 21st June at Heathroe Airport as they arrived from Turkey.
The 21-year-old victim had discovered about the plan and escaped to Staines police station in Surrey.
Initially, he had refused to have his kidney removed after undergoing tests at the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead, north-west London.
Upon court appearance, the trio denied any wrong doing saying there wasn’t an exploitation.
They are currently in custody and due to appear in court again on August, 4th, 2022.
