A scheduled trip to United Kingdom (UK) by Malawian singer Onesimus has been cancelled over visa clearance issues.
The singer was supposed to travel to UK for a music concert dubbed as “Malawi Independence Celebrations” scheduled on Saturday, July
The singer together with Malawi Association in UK (MAUK) & Leeds Malawi Association, have released statement announcing the new development.
“In preparation for this auspicious occasion, an artist from Malawi Onesimus Music was invited to grace the event. A Visa application for the artist was made early May 2022 in line with the rules, regulations, and times lines of the UK immigration authorities.
“Relevant authorities such as the Leeds Local MP and our Malawi High Commissioner’s office in South Africa had been engaged to try and expedite the visa clearance without success.
“Unfortunately to date, no response for the visa application has been received from the Immigration authorities. With this development, it is with deep regret to announce that Onesimus will not be performing this Saturday in Leeds during the Independence Day celebrations; he will perform at the next event arranged by MAUK in the UK,” part of the statement reads.
Meanwhile, the organizers of the event have replaced Onesimus with Phyzix who is already in UK as a headliner.
During the concert, Phyzix will be supported by other UK based Malawian artists.
