POLICE INTERCEPT MALAWIAN DRIVER CARRYING 42 ILLEGAL ETHIOPIAN IMMIGRANTS INSIDE TRUCK CARRYING MAIZE HUSKS

42 immigrants from Ethiopia have been apprehended for illegal entry into the country in Mtiti area in Dowa.

The immigrants were intercepted while in a 30-tonne truck with registration number NE 6600 driven by a Malawian, Mponela Police Station Officer in charge John zidana confirmed adding that they were intercepted following a tip-off.

“They were packed in a truck carrying bags of maize husks. Looking at how much the truck was craftily loaded, without people tipping us, it could have been difficult to intercept the truck,” Zidana.
