United Transformation Movement (UTM) has released a public statement disclosing that Dr Saulos Klaus Chilima will on Friday address the nation as the state Vice President and also UTM leader on issues of national importance.
In a statement signed by UTM’s National Publicity Secretary, Frank T Mwenefumbo, the event will take place at UTM’s Offices in Area 10, Lilongwe from 10 a.m.
The news comes amid claims that the UTM leader is one of the persons involved in the corrupt dealings with Businessperson Zunneth Sattar; allegations that Chilima himself has since denied publicly.
Days ago, President Dr Lazarus Chakwera moved a step forward to withhold all delegated duties to Chilima following the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) report that implicated the vice President in the ongoing corruption case.
Meanwhile, the Vice President through the statement has asked followers to remain calm.
“The Vice President is appealing for calm among UTM followers and all Malawians of goodwill throughout this period, “it stated.
