In South Africa, a man who was arrested for threating to shoot his girlfriend succeeded to do so hours after police released him on bail for initial death threats he made against the girlfriend.
The deceased, Mmapula Maria (40) reported her boyfriend, Matome Shadrack Martlakala to police after he threatened to kill her with a gun.
Reports say the two had an argument resulting into the man making the death threats. After he was reported to police, he was arrested but the officers released him on bail later on.
After the release, he went straight to his girlfriend’s house where he shot her dead and drove off.
According to Limpopo police spokesperson Brig Motlafela Mojapelo, the man later committed suicide.
“He was later found dead with a gunshot wound at his home in the next village of Ga-Makanye. The firearm used in the commission of the crime was found next to his lifeless body,” Mojapelo said.
The police appealed with couples going through domestic related issues to resolve the matter professionally instead of violence.
